Long, thick damaged hair?

I have long brownish red hair. It's extremely thick, and 5 inches below my shoulders. The last 3 inches are slightly damaged, from straightening I'd imagine. I want to keep growing my hair longer though, so what can I do to keep it healthy? And what kind of hair style could I get to thin out my hair a little bit so it's more managable?

layers thin out your hair, and the cut can improve some of your dry ends. straightening destroys hair...if you must do it, use a heat protectant...but even with that your hair will be fried. try going natural for a while, or most of the time. conditioning is the key to repairing dry hair...condition every time u wash it, and dont shampoo every day. deep condition or use a hot oil treatment once a week. if your like me and getting any length cut off your beloved hair is traumatizing, these things should help it. while trimming off the dry ends is the best way, if you dont want to, not using heat on your hair should greatly improve its appearance. split ends cant b repaired...so either they get cut off or they keep splitting. good luck :)

if u wana thin ur hair out, u shud go to the hairdresssers and get it thinned. ur hair will mostly be the same length, and at the same time, some ur dry ends will be gone in the process

how to make ur hair grow faster

first of all u should know that there is internal and external part.

internal part :ur hair to grow ,to be soft and smooth need essential vitamines like iron,calcium,b5,so u should take care of ur food and preserve a good diet and submit ur body with all the essential vitamines and minerals,u can not have a good hair and skin if u r starving ur self.

second:external care:u should follow the basic routine(massage ur scalp, use a good shampoo and conditioner, intensive mask every week etc)

3rd:if u have a tight budget u can use natural product(which i recommand cuz mask etc have chemicals which in the long run not good for ur hair).

4th:u should follow the basic hair care(email me if u do not know it)

the link doesn't work.

try tresseme strengthening shampoo and conditioner, or any other shampoo and conditioner for weak and damaged hair. i personally use tresseme and it works so well! also, try long layers. this will keep the length, but make your hair a little more manageable. good luck.

If i were you, i'd get at least an inch cut from your length, and then have layers put in, starting at about your jaw bone to frame the face. The layers itself would make the dead ends less noticeable also. It would look great!!!

ask your hairdresser to layer it a bit. and don't forget just because you're growing your hair out you should get it trimmed to keep split ends away. use shampoos and conditioners designed for dry/coarse/rebelious hair. and a repair mask should help to improve the overall conditon of hair. shampoo-garnier fructis smooth and sleek, conditoner-pantene for dry hair or you can use garnier. and mask, have a look for Aussie 3 Minute Miracle, otherwise tresemme or loreal. leave in conditoners can really help to, charles worthington leave in, umberto gianini overnight cream and pantene have some good ones too.

using a hair mask once or twice a week will help with dry end. There is no way to properly repair damaged hair though, i would say it would be best to get the damaged hair cut off so you have good strong, healthy hair which will grow long and be free of split ends! if you straighten hair a lot, i would recommend using a serum before straghtening and blow drying as this will help prevent against further hair damage, and makes ends appear sleaker and less dry.

use the shampoo caviar by alterna! and trim your hair if you cut it it will grow faster! take prenatal vitamins too!

use products in your hair before you blow dry and flat iron!

my hair was damaged from color and i was in denial so i whacked about 6 inches off, 2 inches grew back in 4 weeks and it feels better, I pull my hair back alot in a pony tail because i don't want to flat iron every day

have your stylist do condition treatments every 3 weeks
