try putting a little gel and a little water on it then braid in two braids (bend over and braid with your head hanging down so your braids will start close to your scalp and up on the top of your head)- do this at bedtime and then in the morning unbraid- it will look awesome.

I hate to tell ya but ya can't have both. Believe me I have the curlist hair in my whole family and even though it's pretty long no one can tell really! Anywho and what I do is just wet ir down, brush it, then I run fructis gel through my hair very thouro, and let it air dry. I don't like it much, but I get lots of complements!

Well good luck!

USE A STRAIGHTENER

Try using some gel and hairspray at the same time, it works for me and I got the same type of hair as you do, or you could get a relaxer to make your hair just like you want it. A RELAXER, NOT A PERM.

mine is exactly the same way!! idk if this will work for you, but I use tressemme hair gel, and i put it in after i take a shower while its still wet, and then i just use a hair serem to keep it from frizzing, and i get compliments on it all the time..thats what i do to keep it long and curly. i dont know if that helps, but i hope it does!! =)

I have curly hair too. The only way to make it look longer is to grow it out, or get extensions. Try getting it layered, it looks better. Then try Biolage curl cream. That will hold the curls in your hair, but not make it hard and crunchy like mousse, hairspray or gel. Another good cream is Dove curl cream. It is as good as Biolage and a little cheaper.

Well u could try to use this gel by Paul Sebastian it's called WET my hair is the same way as yours and I use the wet along with a little mousse and it seems to work for me. However I would prefer to wear my hair straight.

Hi, yeah, my hair's sort of like that too. So you'd like to keep it long, with loose, wavy curls? Okay, here's my thoughts/experience: don't use heavy products like mousse/gel, because it just weighs your hair down, and they can make it look greasy. Glamour just ran a great article on getting that look with hair like ours: using oversized hair rollers is important; plus, don't use velcro rollers, because that will add to frizzies. They suggested large sponge rollers (maybe you used those when you were little? I know I did!). That was the Feb 2007 issue of Glamour--if you can get your hands on a copy, DO, because it had the best hair tips for getting wavy/curly/straight hair I've ever seen, for all hair types. (It can be hard, I think, to find good advice for hair that's a mix of curly/wavy.) Maybe your friends subscribe, or I think you may be able to order back issues on glamour.com.

I'm pretty low-maintenance, so what I've found works best for me is to never blow dry my hair (if I want to straighten it, I use a hot straightener). I just let it air dry. What gives me the best curls is this: wear your hair in a bun for a day (or I bet overnight would work), then let it down. For some reason, your hair will retain these really gorgeous waves that look like you spent hours doing your hair! For a more curly look, here's what I've found works: twist sections of your hair into little knots/balls and bobby pin them to your head. (I wouldn't sleep in this style--it will probably hurt like heck.) That hairdo is "in" right now, especially if you leave it a bit messy (with ends hanging out, etc.). Wear it for a day, then let it down. You'll have these cute ringlets and curls. To get tighter curls, leave your hair up for longer, and vice versa. You'll have to experiment, but that's one of the best things that's worked for me.

Good luck, and have fun! Curly hair rocks! :)
