Effects on scalp due to dying hair long term...?

I currently due my mid-dark blonde hair light auburn using nice and easy (just incase the product makes a difference). I probably do my whole head every 5-6 weeks and then use the root touch up if needed between dyes. I've been doing this for about 3 months.

My hair is in good condition because I get it trimmed every 5 weeks but what effect will this have on my scalp if I continue this?

I've always dyed my hair myself and never had any problems, but when my own colour grows back it looks patchy on my scalp at the hairline above me ears because the hair there is fine and very fair. Which got me thinking...

Can you colour your hair this often and keep it intact? Does anyone else dye their like this over a long period of time?

If you dont notice any scalp irritation you could keep up this regimen without a whole lot of damage. your hair may get dry if you color it all every 5 weeks, but a deep conditiner should help that. you could try only applying to the roots for 15-20 minutes then covering the ends for the last 10-15 minutes to refresh it without doing much damage. If your scalp is dry or itchy, try switching to a different brand. Nice n easy isnt the best product out there, it contains ingredients that dont react well to other hair services, so if you got highlights or a perm in the future, you risk your hair smoking and dissolving. not a pretty picture. Also stay away from Feria and "natural" or " henna" colors for the same reason. most Garnier, clairol, and loreal products *aside from feria* are safe. If you dont have scalp burns/allergic reation there is no damage coloring it that often. I color my hair that often and have been for years and its in excellent condition, the only time i had damage was when i tried to go from black to white, litterally. I did it twice in my life and will never attempt it again. If youre concerned about hairloss, try nioxin. they have 8 systems for every kind of hair type, so find the one thats for you. i used system 7 to repair my scalp after the bleaching nightmare and it was amazing. its cool and tingly on your scalp and causes faster/thicker hair growth. it stimulates blood flow to your scalp making your scalp and hair super healthy. Only the scalp therapy *conditioner* is necessary, but its most effective if you use the cleanser *shampoo* and the scalp therapy. Its pricey, but worth it. you dont need to use it for every wash, maybe only a weekly treat for your scalp, so a bottle can last you quite awhile.

i have been dying my roots blonde for 11 years every 5-6 weeks without fail %26amp; apart from it sometimes my hair goes a bit dry at times its fine.

mine looks a little patchy round my ears too coz its finer %26amp; lighter there but i think its because you have different colour pigments in your hair folicles there as opposed to the ones on the top of your head which affect how the dye takes to your natural colour

i don't think there is much you can do about it but i would consult with a hairdresser for expert advice.
