hey im indian and i experiment on my black friend hair. her hair was up to her neck now her butt it took her two years. do this twice a week like she did. trust me okay u can use indian hair products because she is 100% black. if u dont trust me then do this for 3 mths okay!! go to a indian community the products are not expensive so dont worry choose a oil u stick with this oil only this oil: u can choose: cocunut oil the brand name is parachute or vatika dabur, another oil is almond oil, u can also get alma oil.

heat upa generous amount of oil. make sure its warm. u can use a cottonball to oil ur scalp and hair. message ur whole head for 15 minutes. braid ur hair up and sleep with a plastic cap on.next morning use shikakai powder. u can add the shikakai powder with alma powder and reetha powder for better results somethimes these powders come in 3 in 1. take some powder and put it into a bowl. put a little bit of water so it can become a thick paste rub it all over ur hair. leave this in for 15-30 min. rinse it out with water make sure its rinse out good. dont apply nothing else to ur hair. afetr its fry it will feel silky so no need to add any products to it.please airdry ur hair if u do want to blow dry it make sure the temperture is cool. dont use a flat iron. cut ur split ends just trim a little of the ends every 10 wks. u still can use a perm but make sure u wash ur hair off with a herbal indian shampoo. and use the shikaki as a deep conditioner. trust me my balc friend did this for mths and her hair became thicker,blacker,silky and longer!! if i am wron u can tell the whole world this is false info!! good luck. use a flatiron once a mth

This is coming from a white person. I get my hair trimmed every 2-3 months. They say you need to eat healthy. To help you hair growth too.

keep wearing individuals b/c it pulls your hair but dont keep doing braids after braids let you hair breathe. if you want you hair past you shoulders it will take proball 1 1/2 years but make sure you r getting it trimmed every 8 weeks.

My hair used to always break off at the shoulders however, now, has grown beyond my waist.

A non -greedy beautician gave me this advice several years ago:

If you want your hair to grow, go 6 months or, so between cuts and then, cut only in snippets - the barest of ends/very, very little.

Wash with a good quality shampoo and conditioner. These do not have to be expensive. I am causcasian and Aussie products have worked wonders for me.

Finish with a cold rinse. This tightens the hair folicals and brings a greater luster to your tresses.

Don't overbrush or overstyle your hair. Let it do its on thing. I only hand brush my hair when it is wet. Once dry, I only use a pick and only once or twice a day. Contrary to popular belief, brushing only causes your hair to loosen and fall out or, otherwise damages your hair.

Consider not braiding your hair for a few months to see what results you get. The weight and tension might be causing your hair to break off/fall out.

Hi there, I too am black. I found by keeping my hair in braids, so long as it is not heavily stressing it, and also SEW in weaves, has allowed my hair to grow. I had a breakage problem from a "not so good wash out of a perm" in 2004. My hair is all virgin now %26amp; when blown dry %26amp; flat ironed is shoulder lenght, I just had it trimmed today %26amp; it is still of good lenght. Stay away from perming until u have the lenght you want. I guess it is called letting the hair rest.

well my friends blk and she has thick long hair one day i asked her wat do u do she said she puts eggs n mayo with a shower cap on for about an hour each and every time prior to washing and you know wat girl if it dont help it cant hurt either its not that expensive so i think its worth a shot.but my suggestion would be not to use light mayo because you need all the fatten moisturizing from pure mayo

oh n one more thing i think that you should try box braids i know that this mite sound crazy but it works for me i usually have my hair weaved out (lol) in different braids all summer long wen the season changes i finally perm it and ive noticed if u leave your hair be in grows faster also i know this sounds gross but i dont care wat no body think bout me cause yall dont kno me i usaully wash my hair every two weeks i think the hairs dirt and natural moisturizers protect it washing strips it dry dont wash to often

ok so lets recap-------- my suggestions:

eggs~N~mayonnaise

braids in the summer

dont wash to often

after washing use a deep conditioner grease scalp with a medicated specially formulated growth inhibiting treatment ----you know like "doo grow" brand hair grease or something similar

oh n if u can make sure ur hairs is dirty before u perm not clean n also if possible dont dye it sometimes its too stressful
