Do Holland lop ear bunnies ever have long hair?

the Holland lap ear bunny Im looking at is a female, and has longer hair. I thought this breed was short haired. Also Im looking at a female. All my other animals are males. What would you recomend, Male or female

Hollands do have shaggier coats than the other lop breeds. They are not very long haired though and shouldnt have tufts on head or behind ears, but there coats are more profuse and thick and a bit shaggier and longer. Though you can have a smoother coated one depends on the lineage. A good Holand should have a broad head, shorter ears than most of the lops, tall crown, and the hair is profuse and over cuts the nose giving it a bubble head effect. They are stocky built and solid.

it may be mixed with american fuzzy lop, which is the same thing as a holland basically but with wool. i suggest a male, females are nasty when they want to breed.

The Holland Lop breed has medium length hair. To get a decent rabbit i.e. not a mutt, right gender ask around about breeders.

I would recommend a male rabbit. Why? because males are less high strung AND you won't end up with babies.

Perhaps the bunny you are looking at is a Holland Lop mixed with American Fuzzy Lop. I think that would account for the longer hair.

At home, I have a female Holland Lop bunny. She's 9 months old, and pretty curious and forward--gets into everything. She's bold and a little bit sassy--kind of like a princess. I also have a male Netherland dwarf rabbit. He's pretty high-strung, but I guess that might be due to his breed. I've had other rabbits besides these before, and the male Holland Lop was quite mellow.

It's hard to make generalizations like that, though. I think it might be best to spend some time with the rabbit you are thinking of getting, and choose the one whose personality you like the best.

I know you didn't ask for this advice, but please spay or neuter your bunny! It would really help with the pet overpopulation problem. Good luck!
