Why is it that if you are a black woman, and you have long hair, people assume it's weave?

I have long hair and I get questions all the time, especially from other women (ghetto), even putting thier hands in my hair. They do my friend the same way at work.

I am not biracial or light-skinned either, I am medium brown.

In fact, I know a lot of dark-skinned women with long hair.

I have relatives and know people that have a nice length of hair.

Ridiculous!

Don't get angry dear. Just tell them that it's natural and continue with your daily business. Worrying about what others think will drive you insane....White women wear hair pieces as well, but I feel that if the individual is content with themselves, then small things doesn't matter.

OK Loty, I'm black and my hair grows pretty fast and I'm not mixed I'm dark skinned.my parents are African.And my brother can cut his hair( because he has a huge Afro) and it will all grow back in 4 months. I think it has to do with what you eat and the genes you get. Report It

that's what i say even though i don't like my hair long i keep it shoulder lenght but it's really silky and straight (i'm black and part irish and west indian)but i just say i'm black but it's crazy how some people say if your black your hair is a weave when some girls don't have weaves i know alot of black girls with long natural hair it's a big difference from a weave
