my hair used to be very long.

the past year or so i've been trimming it quite often and my hairdresser is a bit too scissor-happy.

my hair is always long, but how do i get it very long again but still keeping it healthy and without constant cutting?

ps. i stopped using permanent dye completely now for about a year, and i don't use heat on it. it's wavy/curly and quite thick.

stop going to that hairdresser immediately! and dont trim it anymore than every few months. when you find a new hairdresser stress the word TRIM as much as possible. if they dont do it right, dont pay.

u just have to wait for it. it will take time, but if u want it to still be healthy while it grows, i would go to a stylist that isnt so scissor happy and get a trim, which should be no more than about a 1/4 of an inch. good luck!

oh sweetheart as a girl with long curly hair i feel your pain. if you dont trim your hair it will grow slow...trust me! i would still get it trimmed atleast every 6 weeks if not every 4, but maybe try cheating on ur stylist and what i mean by this is go to your normal one for regular cut and style but for the trim just go some where else and make it clear u want a quarter of an inch only also you can try using prenatal vitamins it really will do wonders for your hair and nails too! great little secret its extra protien which is all ur hair and nails really are..good luck hunny and dont stop getting ur hair cut!
