What will I say to the hair dresser to keep my hair long but just a bit shorter. Everytime I say I want it long but shorter they always cut it way way too short! Maybe I should start saying I want only half an inch off? help?

Tell her to cut it so it's half covering your ear length. Or if you want it shorter, one-forth covering your ear length. Good luck!
