I'd say by 14, you are old enough to be sure of what you want to look like in the mirror. I'm a parent and i think this is a silly thing to argue. Your parents should probably pick their battles since there are much bigger issues to deal with.

For the sake of harmony in the family, why not suggest a compromise of cutting off half the length. It will be easier to take care of properly and the hair that you have left will probably be in better condition than it is now.



Or, you could compromise by going with one of your parents to the nearst SuperCuts or whatever and telling the stylist to cut off as much length as he/she needs to to leave you with nothing but hair that is in good condtion.



It isn't how long the hair is that counts--it is how well it is maintained.
