I agree with you. Back when I played football and baseball in High School(Late 80's) and college the coaches wouldnt allow hair to be no longer than the base of your neck. Plus my Dad would have never let me wear long hair or wear my hat backwards like they all do. A hat is to keep sun or lights out of your eyes and not shade the back of your neck.
