When it is wet put in some gel and scruntch it. If your hair has a bit of natural wave it shoudl look pretty great. The cool part is all you have to do is scruntch a little, it'll do the rest on its own when you learn to do it right.

i have thick long hair too and i put some water on a comb to get the tangles out then put in one long braid then put it into a bun and noe you have a braid bun!
